Jitendra Rawat, an IFS officer from the 2011 batch tragically passed away after falling from a building in a residential complex located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, on Friday. The incident occurred early in the morning, and the police have initiated an inquest along with an ongoing investigation into the matter.

While authorities have refrained from confirming the presence of a suicide note, a police spokesperson mentioned that the scene of the incident is being thoroughly examined and that the police are in communication with the officer’s family to assist in the probe.

According to investigators, the police control room received an alert around 6 a.m. about the fall. The officer was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Initial findings indicate that the officer was reportedly at home with his mother when the incident occurred, while his wife and children were in Dehradun at the time.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the officer’s passing in a statement, offering their condolences and stating that they were providing all possible support to the officer’s family. “An officer of the Ministry of External Affairs passed away in the morning of March 07, 2025, in New Delhi,” the statement read. The MEA also mentioned that they were in touch with Delhi Police and emphasized their commitment to respecting the family’s privacy during this difficult time. Further details were withheld out of respect for the family’s wishes.
