Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay hosted a lavish iftar event in Chennai on March 7 to celebrate the holy month of Ramzan. Sporting traditional white clothing and a skull cap, the ‘Leo’ actor took part in the evening prayers and joined the attendees to break their fast together.

The event, which witnessed a large crowd, took place at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah and was reportedly organised by Vijay’s political party. As per Free Press Journal, imams from 15 mosques across Chennai were invited, and provisions were made to host around 3,000 people. Sources indicate that Vijay observed a full day of fasting, following Islamic traditions, before hosting an iftar feast for the attendees.
Photos and videos from the event have quickly gone viral on social media, showing Vijay in moments of prayer and engaging with the community. His gesture has been met with widespread appreciation, with fans praising his efforts to honor and embrace various cultural traditions.
Vijay is currently focusing on his political journey as he gears up for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, where he is expected to contest independently.
On the professional front, Vijay was recently seen in the action thriller The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film also features Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, Sneha, Laila, and Meenakshi Chaudhary.
