Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent, Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor has voiced his opinion on the issue, making it clear that he does not support the offensive comments made during the show. The controversy began when YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, made inappropriate remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s platform, India’s Got Latent.
Boney Kapoor’s Strong Reaction to the Controversy
Addressing the matter with the media, Boney Kapoor emphasized the need for caution, especially when making public statements. He expressed his disapproval of the comments and stressed the importance of self-discipline and setting boundaries. Speaking to ANI, Kapoor stated, “What he did is something which I don’t endorse at all. There have got to be limitations. There has got to be self-censorship also. Within your home, you talk whatever you want to talk, but on social platforms, you need to be careful and you need to be disciplined.”
Boney Kapoor shared his views while attending a public event in Odisha on February 12, where he and his son, actor Arjun Kapoor, met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the state assembly.
Samay Raina’s Response to the Backlash
In response to the controversy and subsequent backlash, comedian Samay Raina decided to remove all India’s Got Latent videos from his channel. On February 12, he issued an official statement in which he expressed regret over the incident. Raina clarified that his intention had never been to offend anyone. He mentioned, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully co-operate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly.”
Ranveer Allahbadia’s Apology
YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia also addressed the situation with a public apology, acknowledging that he had made a mistake in his judgment during the show. In his video statement, he expressed regret, stating that comedy was not his area of expertise and that he deeply regretted any distress his comments might have caused.
Legal Implications and Investigation
The controversy has now taken a legal turn, with an FIR filed against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina for their remarks. The Mumbai police are actively investigating the case, and several other influencers connected to the incident, including Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchalani, have already recorded their statements with the police in relation to the matter.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on the need for responsible behavior on public platforms and the importance of maintaining decorum when it comes to humor and commentary.
