Apoorva Mukhija Receives Threats
Apoorva Mukhija, known as The Rebel Kid, has been facing severe backlash after her appearance on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show, where both she and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia were criticized for making inappropriate and vulgar remarks. Following the controversy, Apoorva has been subjected to online abuse, including sexual assault threats, death threats, and harassment.
Her best friend, fellow content creator Rida Tharana, expressed her anger at the trolls and offered support to Apoorva. Rida wrote, “Some people hate women just for existing, for loving themselves, and daring to grow. A woman’s struggles are always worse because of her gender. How can anyone feel safe when they’re constantly threatened and scared for their life in a country meant to protect them?”
Rida also added, “It’s so unfair, the hate and cruelty she’s being put through. I just hope none of you ever have to experience what she’s going through,”
As a result of the controversy, Apoorva has been removed from the list of official ambassadors for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony in Jaipur next month. The Karni Sena, a Rajput group, allegedly threatened to disrupt the shoot involving Apoorva. Dr. Paramweer Singh Dulawat, division head of Rajput Karni Sena, stated that they would oppose and “beat with shoes” anyone spreading vulgarity in Mewar, demanding that Apoorva be banned from the region.
