There have been recent speculations about Urvashi Rautela’s involvement in the Telugu film Daaku Maharaaj, set to make its OTT debut on Netflix on February 21. These rumors gained traction when fans noticed her absence from the poster promoting the film. However, a close source to Netflix has dismissed these claims, reassuring that Urvashi remains part of the film’s ensemble cast.
The film, directed by Bobby Kolli, will stream the theatrical version on Netflix without any alterations. This version of the film will be available on February 21 across multiple languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Daaku Maharaaj was originally released in theaters on January 12, during the Sankranti festival, and has performed well at the box office, grossing over Rs 115 crores globally.
In addition to Urvashi Rautela, the film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. The movie also stars Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, Rishi, Chandini Chowdary, Pradeep Rawat, Sachin Khedekar, Shine Tom Chacko, Viswant Duddumpudi, Aadukalam Naren, and Ravi Kishan.
The song Dabidi Dibidi, which features Balakrishna and Urvashi, faced criticism for its choreography, which some found overly vulgar. Meanwhile, Urvashi’s comments about the film’s success, especially in the wake of the knife attack on Saif Ali Khan, also went viral after the film’s release.
Despite its box office success, Daaku Maharaaj has received mixed reviews. According to a review from Times Now, while the film is visually stunning with strong technical elements and a stellar performance from Balakrishna, the predictable storyline and familiar narrative style may leave some audiences wanting more. The film intensifies as it delves into the backstory of the title character, revealing key details about Daaku Maharaaj’s past and the introduction of the main antagonist, Chaacha/Balwanth Singh Thakur, played by Bobby Deol.
