D. K. Shivakumar

Doddalahalli Kempegowda Shivakumar, better known as D. K. Shivakumar, is a prominent Indian politician and businessman. He currently serves as the 9th Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and holds the portfolios of Water Resources, Bengaluru Development, and Town Planning. Additionally, he is in charge of the Bengaluru Urban District as of May 2023. Shivakumar has been a significant figure in the Indian National Congress, assuming the role of President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) since 2020, and previously served as the Working President from 2008 to 2010. His political career also includes serving as a Cabinet Minister in the Karnataka Government between 2014 and 2019.

Shivakumar has represented the Kanakapura constituency in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly since 2008 and has previously represented the Sathanur Assembly constituency from 1989 until the present.

Born on May 15, 1962, in Kanakapura near Bengaluru, Karnataka, Shivakumar hails from the Vokkaliga community. His father, Kempegowda, and mother, Gouramma, were instrumental in his upbringing. His younger brother, D. K. Suresh, is also an active politician. Shivakumar is married to Usha, and the couple has three children: two daughters, Aishwarya and Aabharana, and a son, Aakash. His elder daughter, Aishwarya, is married to Amartya, the son of V. G. Siddhartha, the founder of Café Coffee Day.

Apart from his political achievements, D. K. Shivakumar is known to be one of the wealthiest politicians in India, reflecting his influence and prominence in both politics and business.
