Dwayne Johnson’s Alleged Actions Contribute to a $50 Million Increase in Red One’s Budget?

According to TheWrap, Dwayne Johnson’s late arrivals caused significant production delays. Insiders reported that his schedule forced crews to adjust shoots, leading to unexpected costs. One source criticized Johnson, calling his chronic tardiness the only consistent thing about him.

The internet reacted strongly, with some shocked and others sharing memes. A particularly eye-catching claim suggested Johnson “pees in a Voss water bottle” on set—a habit he’s openly admitted to in the past. He explained to Esquire that staying hydrated means frequent bathroom breaks.

But Red One wasn’t the only project affected by Johnson’s delays. TheWrap spoke to insiders from Rampage, Ballers, and Red Notice, who also claimed his tardiness impacted filming. One said Johnson limited his workdays to four or five hours, while another speculated it was a “control thing.”

Not all sources agreed, however. Some downplayed the delays on Red One, claiming Johnson was usually only about an hour late. Amazon MGM defended him, calling extreme lateness claims “ridiculous and false” and praised Johnson and his production company, Seven Bucks, for their hard work.

For Amazon, Red One is a potential franchise, directed by Jake Kasdan of Jumanji fame, starring Lucy Liu, J.K. Simmons, and Nick Kroll.

While budget fluctuations are typical, one source said the increases were normal, within a 15% range of the target. Still, the debate continued—was Johnson’s schedule just another part of Hollywood chaos, or did his delays truly disrupt production? Either way, with The Rock involved, things are always interesting.
