Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja are reportedly heading towards a divorce after 37 years of marriage. Amid mounting speculation about their relationship, Govinda addressed the rumors in an interview with ETimes.
When asked about the ongoing divorce reports, the popular actor, known for his role in Hero No. 1, kept his response brief. He shared, “There are only business talks going on… I am in the process of starting my films.” Sunita Ahuja, however, did not respond to ETimes’ inquiry regarding the divorce rumors.
In addition, ETimes spoke to Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, who mentioned that there have been “issues” between the couple, particularly due to comments made by certain family members. Sinha stated, “There is nothing more to it, and Govinda is currently focused on starting a film, with artists visiting our office. We are trying to resolve things.”
Speculation about their troubled marriage gained traction on Wednesday, with several reports claiming that the couple has been living separately for some time. The rumors gained further attention when Sunita Ahuja began sharing insights into their personal life during recent interviews.
In a conversation with Hindi Rush, Sunita opened up about Govinda’s lack of romance, even laughing when asked about it. She revealed, “I have told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He doesn’t go on holidays. I’m someone who wants to go out with my husband and enjoy simple things like eating pani-puri on the streets, but he spends too much time working. I don’t remember a single time when we went to the movies together,” she said.
Amid the swirling rumors, ETimes also cited a source who claimed, “Sunita apparently sent a separation notice a few months ago, but there has been no further progress since then.”
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja tied the knot in March 1987, but they made their wedding announcement only after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. Later, in 1997, they welcomed their son, Yashvardhan.
