The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is set to kick off on March 22 with an exciting clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Though the official IPL 2025 schedule has yet to be released by the BCCI, a report by Cricbuzz reveals that key match dates have already been shared with the franchises.
Key IPL 2025 Matches to Look Out For:
- March 22: The opening match will feature KKR against RCB at Eden Gardens, setting the stage for another thrilling season.
- March 23: Last year’s runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will begin their campaign at home, taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This afternoon clash will be SRH’s first home game of the season.
In a new development, Guwahati will make its IPL debut as Rajasthan Royals’ second home venue. RR will play two evening matches at Barsapara Stadium—against KKR on March 26 and Chennai Super Kings on March 30.
Playoff Locations:
- Hyderabad will host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator matches.
- Kolkata will be the venue for Qualifier 2 and the grand final, making both cities key to the conclusion of the tournament.
A Shift in IPL 2025 Start Date:
Initially slated to begin on March 23, BCCI has adjusted the start date to March 22, following a request from broadcasters. The shift to a Saturday start aligns with television schedules, ensuring maximum viewership. The full fixture list is expected to be released soon.
