Veteran actress and Bharatanatyam legend Vyjayanthimala has confirmed she is in good health, putting an end to the false rumors about her passing. These misleading reports spread quickly, prompting her son, Suchindra Bali, to step in and clarify the situation.
In a statement shared with ETimes, Suchindra Bali reassured the public, saying, “Dr. Vyjayanthimala Bali is perfectly fine, and any news suggesting otherwise is completely untrue. We urge everyone to verify the source before sharing such unverified information.”
At 91, Vyjayanthimala continues to remain active and in high spirits. Earlier this year, she left audiences spellbound with a stunning Bharatanatyam performance in Chennai. Even at this age, she remains a beacon of grace and talent, continually inspiring and mesmerizing her fans.
Her most recent performance took place at Kala Pradarshini, where Vyjayanthimala showcased her unmatched stage presence and impeccable expressions. She performed the Carnatic composition Daasiganunta in raga Abheri, set to Adi tala. The mesmerizing recital was beautifully accompanied by the vocals of the talented Girijashankar Sundaresan.

Vyjayanthimala is an iconic figure in Indian cinema, having earned a permanent place in the hearts of audiences with her brilliant performances in films like Devdas (1955), Madhumati (1958), Jewel Thief (1967), and Sangam (1964). After her successful film career, she retired from acting in 1970 after Ganwaar and turned her focus towards Bharatanatyam. She became a renowned exponent of the classical dance form, earning the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1982 for her exceptional contributions to Indian dance. In 2024, she was honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, recognizing her remarkable achievements in both the arts and cinema.
